So this week I had a paper proposal accepted by a conference, won a scholarship that will fund a good part of my thesis work, and was selected to autonomously teach my own undergraduate Women’s Studies 101 course next year—with my own self-designed syllabus.

I had originally written about how all of this good fortune made me feel nervous, and how I felt like I was tempting fate to send some bad luck my way. But you know what—fuck that. I’ve worked really hard for these opportunities, and on making positive changes in my life in general. And I’m going to keep working hard no matter what kind of luck the universe sends me.

So right now, I’m going to sit back, enjoy the good things that have come my way, and allow myself to feel justified in my happiness. Because I am.

So people are now using YouTube to crowdsource choirs. Nearly 200 people sitting in front of their computers singing, their voices stitched together into one. And it’s gorgeous.

I wish I could show this to every person who’s said the Internet is only good for porn and alienating us from each other.
